About Fiesta Blinds

Founded in the 1970s, Fiesta Blinds initially operated as a retailer specialising in simple window coverings. Over the years, the company underwent significant evolution, transitioning from off-the-shelf offerings to customised, made-to-measure products sourced from the renowned Northern Irish company, Decora Blind Systems.

In response to growing demand, Fiesta Blinds made a strategic decision to bring manufacturing in-house. This move resulted in the establishment of a workforce of approximately 30 employees, spanning sales, production, and installation roles. The company's success hinged on locally sourced materials and the establishment of robust relationships with businesses of various scales.

In 1995, Fiesta Blinds and Fabrics Ltd was founded by Billy McCartney, Paul McCartney, and Anne McDermott. The company expanded its operations by relocating to the Springrowth Business Park, facilitating the creation of new products and the acquisition of additional equipment. Key contracts with prominent entities, such as DuPont, several universities, and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, contributed to the company's prosperous years.

With advancing technology and the automation of production processes, Fiesta Blinds underwent a temporary downsizing phase. This strategic manoeuvre, characterised by a reduction in staffing levels and an increased reliance on externally sourced products, successfully navigated the challenges posed by the 2006 financial crisis.

In 2017, Paul McDermott assumed the role of Operations Manager, ushering in a new manufacturing approach that incorporated elements of lean manufacturing. The shared vision of the company, under his leadership, emphasised in-house production, waste reduction, heightened productivity, sustained product quality, and the well-being of the workforce.

In 2019, Paul McCartney retired, and Paul McDermott took on the role of Director of Operations. The company embarked on an expansion plan, including the enlargement of the production facility at Springrowth Business Park, exploration of export markets, and the expansion of retail showrooms. Although initially planned for 2020, the first new showroom opened in Omagh in November 2021.
